Taking a look at the PFA Women’s Young Player of the Year Award shortlisters.

Jordan Nobbs Shortlisted for Both PFA Awards

The PFA Women’s Player’s Player of the year and Women’s Young Player of the Year Award shortlist were released last week Friday. And both shortlists were dominated by Liverpool and Arsenal Ladies Football Clubs.

For the PFA Women’s Young Player of the Year Award, the Nominees are…

Lucy Bronze (Liverpool and England)

Bronze who plays at Right Back for Liverpool and her country, England is one of the kop ladies top pick for the award. Liverpool Ladies had a spectacular last season eventually winning the FA WSL by 5 points above surprising Bristol Academy losing only two games and conceding just 19 goals, the second least conceded in the league. They have their defence to thank for that and Lucy Bronze was an integral part of that set up, she is also on the shortlist for the Players’ Player of the Year Award.

Danielle Carter (Arsenal and England)

Carter who broke into the Arsenal ladies side at a very young age is still just 20. She came from the ranks of Leyton Orient Girls and has made a name for herself with her impressive speed and ability to contend with oppositions’ defences.

Europe could be said to be her turf, the ‘young gun’ has 6 goals in the competition just one short of being the joint top scorer with Europe’s elite such as Christen Press and Martina Muller. She is worth a shot at winning the award.

Isobel ‘Izzy’ Christiansen (England and Man.City)

Man.City winger, ‘Izzy’, as she is known, just 22 was lured in February to ‘Oil Rich’ Man.City Ladies who have started some sort of project similar to their mens club to become more ambitious.

She had an amazing season with Birmingham City Ladies last season and trades the shirt for another shade of blue for this season. Silky footwork and capable of delivering crosses, she stands a chance with the rest of the contenders, just.

 Alex Greenwood (Everton and England)

Greenwood has been Everton through and through since she was eight and has recently broken into the side at left back. Winning recent caps for the English national team and very experienced at youth level.

The England international helped Everton last season to maintain a mid-table position and after a few departures, Greenwood would have to step up even more this season for the blue side of Merseyside, another interesting strong contender as well for the award.

Martha Harris (Liverpool and England)

Harris who is an England u20 international was rewarded by former Lincoln Ladies as their Players’ Player of the Year and Supporters Player of the Year due to her outstanding performances and made the move to Champions, Liverpool.

With the number 3 shirt, she seems to be a major prospect for the future and well deserves this placement on the shortlist.

Jordan Nobbs (Arsenal and England)

Only two players are in both Players’ and Young Player of the Year shortlists, Lucy Bronze and the impressive Jordan Nobbs. At 5 ft. 3 and aged 21, the English international has wowed spectators so far, whether it’s her playmaking or goal scoring ability which we get to see often in Europe.

Nobbs has always being a hot prospect after being called up to the u-15 England squad when she was just 12 and now has 11 caps for the English national side already. She could win the award eventually, a very strong contender for the award.
