Japan Sweep Awards At The FIFA u17 Women's World Cup

The FIFA u17 Women's World Cup came to an end with Japan lifting the trophy over Spain. The Japanese eased their selves into a 2-0 victory over the Spaniards. Japan’s goals came from Meika Nishida and Fuka Kono, from then on the victory was already sealed.
In the third place play off, Venezuela and Italy played a thrilling 4-4 draw, an exciting game of football really, however the Venezuelans lost on penalties to the Italians, scoring none of their spot kicks, Italy scored just 2 of theirs but it was enough to seal victory for the first timers.
Deyna Castellanos couldn’t get in on the party to improve her already impressive goal tally in the 4-4 game, but her team mate, Gabriela Garcia scored twice to ensure her and Castellanos shared the Golden Boot Award. Hina Sugita finished level with Spain’s Nahikari García on 5 goals but claimed the bronze boot due to more assists.
Japan swept the remaining awards, the team won the fair play award, goalkeeper, Mamiko Matsumoto won the golden glove award due to her just conceding a goal the entire tournament and Hina Sugita claimed the Golden Ball award for her impressive performance in the tournament thus far, Yui Hasegawa claimed the Silver Ball and Spain’s Pilar Garrote went home with the bronze.
Japan won the competition, Spain were runners up and Italy took third place but all in all it was a good victory for Women’s Football even at the youth level and the horizon sets for the next FIFA Women’s tournament.
